Interior design should be fun! What do you think of when you think of a fun design??
Do you have one room in your home or apartment that could benefit from a little whimsy, a not too serious space, consider a home office, bonus room, or media room? Go for it! Perhaps a good start would be with an old forgotten piece of furniture collecting dust in your basement or garage, a piece to make a bold statement with. Depending on the size of the piece, typically a quart of paint (approx. $15.) will go a looong way (always use exterior paint (for durability) with primer combination and satin or semi-gloss finish. Go for “Fun Colors” chartreuse, cobalt, Yellow, or the next biggest trend….CORAL! If your prefer neutral walls, here’s a cool designer’s trick, paint the ceiling with color, it is very often neglected in design even by the pros, so it will create an unexpected surprise in your new space. Another option, a focal wall, one wall designated for a bold pop of color. Think outside of the box! Oh, and how about an electric sign attached to your wall vs a piece of art, or both? Utilizing animal prints in textiles & area rugs are a great contribution. An oversized light fixture (very trending) serving cart (for games or etc.…) or maybe a vintage/mid-century modern piece or two will certainly get you on your way to a “New & Fun Space”
