What does that really mean anyhow?
Well to me, and I bet most of us, all of those who’s, really add up to a whole lot! Where would we be without all of our resource peeps, I shudder to think ?!
This is my idea of a candy store, a good fabric shop- Associated Fabrics!
Designing in 5 states and living part-time in many Home Depot’s, I can honestly say, this woman is the Best I have ever worked with, she is so pleasant to work with and will go out of her way for her customers! Go Diedra!
Outstanding, reliable and just all-around good guy, I Love my Painters, Santo’s & Chilo!!
Construction foreman Eve aka Sandie, so grateful to her for so many years of hard work, it’s not easy, but she keeps us all in line!
Wow, I Love this place, such a hodgepodge of goodies to choose from here in Chattanooga., TN! Owner’s Robert & Susan Phillips, great folks!
Sherwin Williams is one of my fav paints. Build a relationship with your local store, tip, try to work with the manager, they have the best training & knowledge of their products.
Realtors extraordinaire- Clair Lee & owner, Amanda Howard, one of the top-rated in the nation, selling or buying real estate, do your homework, it’s worth the time & effort!
Really, think about all those behind the scenes people who, when you need them most, magically pull a rabbit out of a hat, just when you thought, “Oh No! How can I make this work?!” There they are!
I would like you to meet my greatest resource:
Kirby R Totty, the most detail oriented, skilled, sometimes free labor a girl could ever hope for, if I can Design it, he will make it happen!!
In your business or personal life, who do you rely on for help?
As a Designer, finding and working with “The Best” contractor’s, Realtor’s, painter’s, electrician’s, plumber’s, etc., is critical as their involvement can be a reflection on what we are working to achieve. If you have ever had a bad experience with any of these professions listed here, then boy you understand!
Just a plain dull space.
What a difference a few details and a lot of help from my pro friends will make!
So my Design friends, are you considering taking on a Design project, one you can do all by yourself, or, hire out to a pro, remember your local resources, find the ones you can have a good rapport with, people you can trust and count on to give you good solid advice and product information?!
Here a just a few “Design Tips”-
1- Always get two or three estimates.
2- Check out your pro’s, how are they rated, Angie’s List, Houzz, referrals etc…
3- Have a very clear idea of what your budget is including labor & products.
4- Start looking in advance for sales (definitely holidays Presidents’ Day, Labor Day, etc.) on products, furniture, appliances (appl. stores will usually store for a wk or two until you are ready) paint, etc. & purchase even if it’s a month or two prior to your project, every little bit of savings helps. Sherwin Williams has 30% off on their paints about every three weeks or so, try to stock up then if you need to paint a large area, you can really save by purchasing a 5-gallon bucket vs 5 separate gallons.
5- When you find a great pro, pass on the good word to your friends, neighbors & colleagues, share the good news, there is no greater reward than a referral!
I sure hope you too have a list of who to know people for the times you need in your life, reliable, skilled, and just good-hearted peeps!!!
My Best to You Always,
Dawn
