Designing a condo should be fun. Many think the space restrictions are a real hassle, but in truth, that’s where the ability to think outside the box can really come in handy.
For example, this is the former furniture before the new design. The banana yellow leather sofa and love seat were quite large and real space eaters as well as the large and dark wood & glass cocktail table.
This 1980s track lighting will be replaced with a modern chandelier. The popcorn on the ceiling has been removed.
A condo in a bag!
The wall to wall carpet has been replaced with dark hand-scraped hardwoods. All of the light fixtures have been updated with a modern chandelier and oversized floor lamp. Two chrome tables vs one large cocktail table are a better compliment to this smaller space. A custom white leather sofa, two matching armchairs, side tables, area rug, wall art (two fireboxes) custom DDT pillows and a matching table tray put the finishing touches on this modern design!
The natural light is a bonus however can be a bit garish on bright days. The application of window treatments will still allow plenty of light and help reduce the radiant heat on hot days.
The custom DDT designed curtain rod and white panels with arabesque designs soften and add a touch of warmth to this modern space. The new glass top dining table with sleek white leather chairs do not overwhelm but create a nice balance from both ends of the room.
The key to a small space design, keep it simple, with no excess. The more furniture and extras, the smaller the room will look.
Have fun designing your own condo, apartment, office or small space!!
